Latest Updates from Our Project:

US Kickstarter Backers/Add-On Package
about 9 years ago – Tue, Nov 24, 2015 at 11:05:19 PM

Shipping for US orders is well underway, and I expect most people will be receiving their books this week and next week.

If you are a Kickstarter backer, your order should come with an envelope containing your bookplate, stickers and bookmark set (note: only book pledges during the initial Kickstarter campaign include this; Backerkit Preorders do not).

It has come to my attention that a number of US book orders shipped without this Add-On Package. If your packing list mentions an Add-On package, but it was not included in your shipping box, you need to email your name and address to [email protected] so they can get make sure to get those rewards to you.

A reminder...
about 9 years ago – Sun, Nov 22, 2015 at 10:20:41 PM

I do not have any tracking numbers for your orders. If you're in the EU, Australia or Canada, and you have not received your tracking number yet, you need to email Ideaspatcher at [email protected]. Emailing me just makes me a middle-man and slows the line of communication down.

If you're in the US, I don't believe the first round of tracking numbers has even been sent yet, even though some books are already arriving.

US Shipping Begins
about 9 years ago – Wed, Nov 18, 2015 at 09:16:40 AM

All orders destined for the US have finished processing and started shipping this week. I have been given an estimate of two weeks for everyone to have their books in hand (including delivery time).

Tracking numbers have to be processed and sent manually, so that will be done in batches towards the end of the week. By the time some of you receive your tracking number later this week, your package will already be en route.

Canadian Orders Shipped
about 9 years ago – Mon, Nov 16, 2015 at 08:59:41 PM

So, as most of you waking up to emails today already know, all of the orders for Canada shipped last week. Tracking number emails for those orders were all sent today.

Many of you have noticed that your packages are coming from Europe. I had originally charged Canadian book backers $25 in shipping based off of a plan to ship those orders from a warehouse in Ontario. However, when it came time to import that container of books, we ran into a lot of red tape.

The Canadian shipment was held up for over a week while we tried to get it sorted out, as I explained in a previous update, and eventually I had to make a decision: extend the delay and hope to sort out importation, or cut our losses and just get those books moving. I chose the latter.

That left me with two choices, to ship those books from France, or from the US. Shipping from France would cost me an extra $10 per book, or roughly $6,000 out of pocket. Shipping from the US would cost me an extra $25 per book, or approximately $15,000 out of pocket. It's obvious which route I went with.

That's why the Canadian orders are coming from the EU. It isn't an accident, and your book wasn't shipped to the wrong place. In a project this large and complex, not everything will always go according to plan, and sometimes you just have to roll with the punches and keep moving forward. But your books are now on the way and should be in your hands shortly. Delivery will be handled by your national post service.

It was not possible for us to mark all of these orders as "gift" without causing serious complications with customs, but the invoice prices on the packages are listed as $15-20 US, so if taxes are required, they should be very minimal.

Shipping Update #2
about 9 years ago – Mon, Nov 09, 2015 at 06:39:07 PM

Here is all of the latest information as I have received it from Ideaspatcher:

As of end of business today, all EU and RoW orders will have been dispatched. That includes Australia's orders.

Canadian orders will begin shipping today, and should wrap up by the end of the week.

US orders are processing, and are expected to begin shipping at the end of this week, or early next week.
